little over an hours train ride from philadelphia is the henry mercer museum. a six story concrete castle constructed in1916 to house the some 30,000 handmade objects mercer had been collecting to preserve the way things were before the industrial revolution as he knew things would never be the same after.. 

tools, carriages, boats, furniture attached to the ceiling, cooking ware,stoves, a flat top printing press, medical equipment, musical instruments, guns, fishing gear, apple presses, a collection of his tiles, his library and a whole lot more fill this building. all made by hand like it used to be… $10 admission and just a quick walk from the train station, plus a number of shops and restaurants along the way make this a trip worth taking..
